A participant in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can use electronic benefits transfer, or EBT, to purchase food with SNAP funds. A participant’s SNAP Card account is debited when they purchase a SNAP-approved retail location to pay the merchant back for the food bought.
Museums and other family-friendly locations, such as Aquariums and Zoos, offer free or reduced admission to Texas EBT Card holders. Many Texas museums are now open to minimal families, including those who utilize EBT Cards. More than 600 museums across the country provide free or reduced admission to Texas Food Assistance EBT card holders. Entry to all kinds of museums is included in this initiative, which is funded by Museums for All.
Although the program is intended for users of EBT cards for Food Stamps, many websites also accept EBT credentials from other programs, such as:
- EBT WIC Card
- General Cash Assistance
- EBT Card
- TANF EBT Card
Visitors who submit their EBT cards are eligible for discounted admission, ranging from free to $3.00 at participating museums.
